Gayle was one of the finest musicians I’ve had the pleasure and good fortune to share a stage with.  Her bass style was reminiscent of Tower of Power’s Rocco Prestia: technical and precise, with dynamics and taste.  Her musicianship made it a lot of fun to be the other half of a rhythm section.  She was 100% professional on the gig, and simply a very nice person to work with and be around.  She is missed, and I hope she had an inkling of what a fan I was.
